Allergy Testing - Quick, Easy & Painless Results

Skin testing is the oldest and most reliable form of allergy testing. It has been performed for nearly 100 years and continues to be the testing method of choice for the diagnosis of allergic disease. This testing is quick, easy and painless with patient results available in approximately 20 minutes.

The Scratch Test – Find Out What’s Making You Sick

The scratch test methods allow the allergy technician to check for immediate allergic reactions to many different antigens all at the same time. This test is usually done to identify allergies to pollen (grass, trees, and weeds), mold, pet dander, dust mites and much more. The test is usually done on the back, because it is the most accurate location to perform the test. We use a patented device that introduces a minuscule amount of serum into an open pore. There are no needles and no blood is drawn. Patients may feel mild pressure as the allergy technician places the device on their back for approximately 4-5 seconds.

Immunotherapy Treatment – Your Body, the Hero

Immunotherapy is an effective way of modifying or avoiding disease by influencing the immune system. It is essentially a reinforcement of the body’s own defense mechanisms. Vaccination against infectious diseases by stimulating antibodies against a particular invasive organism ensures that a person is protected when they come in contact with the organism naturally. This area of medicine has met with spectacular success.

In addition to combating bacteria and viruses, immunotherapy is increasingly used as a weapon against other diseases, such as cancer and allergy. In allergy immunotherapy (also known as specific or desensitization therapy) the mechanism is regarded as a correction of the immune system towards the way in which a non-allergic person would deal with the allergen.

The symptoms of allergic disease may be treated with varying success using medications, but this has to be done on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, the long-term costs can be high, both financially and to a person’s health. On the other hand, allergy immunotherapy attacks the underlying cause of the problem and provides you with a long-lasting benefit. This is because immunotherapy treats the disease rather than simply masking the symptoms presented by the disease. Immunotherapy is generally applied in multiple, gradually increasing doses, most frequently as subcutaneous injections under the skin.
